OK. what's throwing the picture off is that the background is too light, and you have the room-light in the shot.
I tried duplicated the image to a new layer, greyscaling it, and switching to negative. At about 10% multiply, and a little bit of tweaking of brightness and contrast. Trouble is, while it looks better, I'm just guessing at the right colours for face and hair.
It'd be much better to dash out with a friend between rain showers and catch the sun.
